Italian food is a unique experience. Everywhere you go, you will find something local, particular, special. And Milan is definitely no exception!
But where to find such specialties without knocking door to door to find a - strangely - kind grandma? We gotcha! Here there are four places to get a taste of authentic Milanese food for your next lunch or dinner!
It was founded by the partisans, and that’s why clients are welcomed by the slogan “lunga vita ai ribelli”, aka “long live the rebels!”. Open from lunch time till one a.m., it’s perfect for both lunch break and a beer after work. Enjoy the jovial and cheerful atmosphere, the historic ambiance, and the great food (soups are the kings here!).
A refined and renewed family restaurant. For a full Milanese meal, go with a plate of cold cuts as starter, saffron risotto as first course, and Milanese cutlet as second course… although you might after some problems getting up the chair after that!
A more budget place where you can enjoy traditional food, a nice service, and some surprises in the wine list!
It is like the old, dear, great-aunt that cooks lunch for you. But careful, only lunch: an additional proof that we are really dealing with popular cuisine, whose aim is to make you happy without making a scene. Service is very informal, at times brusque, again, like my great-aunt!
