MUDEC - Klimt Experience (Oct. 20th 2017 – Jan. 7th 2018)
The MUDEC (“Museo delle culture” – “Museum of Cultures”) presents a permanent collection that offers a journey in different historical times and cultural heritages covering from the 17th century to today. Since this part of the museum is for free up until December 31st 2017 I really suggest to check it out: it is really interesting and peculiar.
The MUDEC is also known for its temporary exhibitions and currently presents an amazing one: the “Klimt Experience” (up to January 7th 2018). It allows you to re-experience through images and sound the historical background of the artist’s life and work: the music and the beauty of the artist’s paintings will blow you away!
The MUDEC is open 7 days a week. On Monday from 2.30 pm to 7.30 pm; on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday from 9.30 am to 7.30 pm. On Thursday and Saturday it is open from 9.30 am to 10.30 pm.
Tickets for the Klimt exhibition are separate from the ones for the permanent collection: they’re 10€ for visitors between 14 and 26 years old the whole week and 6€ on Tuesdays for university students with a valid ID/badge. Otherwise it costs 12€.
In addition to this, on Thursday nights there’s the possibility of buying a combined ticket that includes a typically Italian “aperitivo” and the the ticket to the exhibition. It costs 18€.

As the name itself underlines the “Galleria d’Arte Moderna” - GAM / “Gallery of Modern Art” focuses on this artistic period in a great way. Located on the first and second floor of Villa Reale it presents Modern art with a great spectrum of artistic techniques (painting, sculpture and more) and artists: Italian Francesco Hayez, Medardo Rosso, Antonio Canova but also futurists like Boccioni and Balla. Furthermore, big international names are also present: Picasso, Renoir and Matisse just to name a few.
In my opinion, the Villa Reale building on its own is really worth the visit, you’ll be amazed by the beauty of the exteriors and interiors: my personal favorite is called the “ sala del Parnaso”/ “Parnassus hall”. I couldn’t stop taking pictures of it, you should really take a couple of minutes to take it in.
The GAM is open from Tuesday to Sunday and it’s part of “Musei Civici” of Milan.
The opening hours are the following: from 9 am to 5:30 pm. The discount ticket for university students is 3€, otherwise it costs 5€. There’s also the possibility to enter with a free admission: every day one hour before closing and every Tuesday from 2 pm.
