We lived and studied in Milan, and we all know that while studying we need nice breaks to recover from exams, classes, and essays. For this reason, we would like to share some of the best bars you must visit while you are in Milan. We created a ranking based on our past experiences, and we are confident that in these bars you can live unforgettable moments too! ​

4. Fonderie Milanesi

Located in Via Giovenale 7, this is the perfect place to drink good quality cocktails and eat typical Italian food, in a really nice ambience. The vintage furnishing, the walls, the bicycles hanging on the ceilings, and the beautiful outdoor courtyard let you feel like you are enjoying your night out as in the beginning of the XXth century. Especially when the weather is good, the protected outdoor courtyard is a great place to spend time with your friends. During the happy hour – in Italian “aperitivo” – you can find a really big buffet with all the food you can desire, included in the price of the cocktail. We advise you to reserve a table in advance, since this bar is often full. 

3. Chinese Box

Located in Corso Garibaldi 104, this is one of the most preferred bars in town by students. Good quality cocktails, relatively low prices, big buffet with a variety of food, and nice furnishings are the most distinctive characteristics of this bar. It is positioned in an extremely lively area of the city, amazing for students and to have fun with friends. Lot of students always go there, and this flow of people is part of the experience as well! 

2. Carlo e Camilla in Segheria

Located in Via Giuseppe Meda 24, this former factory has been transformed in a stylish bar and restaurant, with minimalist décor and an elegant courtyard. The owner, and founder, is a famous Italian chef, who created unique cocktails and selected the best bartenders to prepare them. You could taste some flavours that you could never imagine, and drink ingredients that you never thought could be put together in the same cocktail – and actually generate something so good. The menu contains so many interesting cocktails that you might think to come back other two/three times to try more of them. Prices are pretty high, around 12 € per cocktail, and not a lot of food is included in this price. We strongly advise to have a conversation with bartenders, which can describe to you the most particular ingredients and the production processes. 

​1. Nottingham Forest

At the first place of our ranking we find the Nottingham Forest, the most amazing bar in Milan! It is located in Viale Piave 1, not a central area of the city; but believe us, it is worth the walk. Since 2007 it is listed in the special ranking of the 50 World Best Bars, and there is a reason for this success. The cocktails in this bar are works of art: sculptures of modern art that involve the client in a process, with the aim to satisfy both the taste and the brain. Don’t go there expecting to drink an “already made” cocktail, since you will receive a composition of several ingredients that you should “eat and drink” in the right order, as explained by the waiter. If you do not respect the right order, the magic does not happen, and you will not taste the vortex of flavours that the bartender designed. Cocktails are pretty expensive (around 12 to 14 €) and there is almost no food included in the price. But you really should visit this bar as you visit a museum of modern art. The prices are justified by the inimitable experience. Remember that the bar is always full and that they do not accept reservation, so be prepared to wait also 30/40 minutes to get a table. But trust us, it is worth the effort!
